The Yumbo Centre located in Playa del Inglés, has often been known as a ‘gay Mecca' since the early 70's, when Scandinavian gay men started visiting the island. Since then it has  become a very popular gay travel destination,  which tends to be very busy all year round.

The Yumbo-centre has over 60 gay bars, restaurants clubs and shops aimed at catering to the large amount of gay visitors and locals. It functions as a regular shopping centre during the day then transforms in to a gay centre after 22:00 every night, once the shops have closed. It is easy to get lost in the rich nightlife this island has to offer but don't forget  the beautiful nature of the island.

Within just a short bus jouney of Playa del Inglés you will find yourself travelling through completely different climate zones. The south is known as the best place for guaranteed sun and some areas are almost desert-like.  Further north, where it is wetter, there are greener areas with several picturesque villages nestled between the hills and valleys. In the interior, where there are mountains that reach heights well above 2000 meters, you will find snow and forests and a pleasant escape from days of partying in the heat.
