Gay Homestays was happy to crown Alex Carstens as the 2011 year host of the year winner! Alex, originally from Denmark, currently lives in the vibrant city of Barcelona where he offers a full apartment for rent in the historical gothic quarter, as well as two double rooms in his own home; a smart, modern attic in the very heart of the ´Gaixample´ area. Having worked as a flight attendant for the Danish airline Maersk Air, Alex is no stranger to delivering good customer service and the rooms offered in his apartment are well presented and tastefully decorated. Both rooms are spacious and light with direct access to either a terrace or a balcony - a rare luxury for many Barcelona apartments. There are two bathrooms, a spacious kitchen and lounge as well as a massage room. Alex is a qualified masseuse and offers a range of therapies as an additional service. Having been a host with Gay Homestays for sometime now, he comments on how he prefers our site to others, enjoying the freedom to control his own profile page, being able to change pictures and offer last minute deals on certain dates. In addition, he likes the added security offered by the initial deposit taken at the point of reservation as this has reduced the number of time-wasters and cancellations. We are delighted to award Alex a mini-bar drinks fridge in order to enhance his guest services even further. He's no stranger to photography, which is clear from the plethora of saucy framed shots from his days as a model that are displayed around the apartment.
